The American Fiber Optics Technology Center is currently seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as an online instructor. Requirements to apply for a job:

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Educational Background:

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Fiber Optics Technology, Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

  2. Professional Experience:

    • Significant experience in the fiber optics industry, including hands-on experience with fiber optic installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

    • Previous teaching or training experience, especially in an online or virtual environment, is highly desirable.

  3. Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in fiber optic technologies, including splicing, testing, and network design.

    • Familiarity with industry standards and best practices.

  4. Online Teaching Competency:

    • Experience with online learning platforms and tools (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas, Zoom).

    • Ability to develop and deliver engaging online course materials.

  5. Communication Skills:

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly.

    • Ability to provide constructive feedback and support to students.

  6. Organizational Skills:

    • Ability to manage multiple courses or classes simultaneously.

    • Proficiency in planning, scheduling, and maintaining course materials.

  7. Certification:

    • Relevant certifications in fiber optics technology or related fields (e.g., FOA CFOT) may be required or preferred.

 

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Course Development:

    • Create and update online course content, including lectures, assignments, and assessments.

    • Ensure that course materials are up-to-date with industry standards.

  2. Instruction:

    • Deliver live or recorded online lectures and workshops.

    • Facilitate online discussions and group activities.

  3. Student Engagement:

    • Provide support and guidance to students, answering questions and offering feedback on assignments.

    • Monitor student progress and address any academic or technical issues.

  4. Assessment:

    • Develop and administer quizzes, exams, and other assessments.

    • Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback.

  5. Administrative Tasks:

    • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress.

    • Participate in departmental meetings and professional development opportunities.

  6. Technology Maintenance:

    • Ensure that all online course materials and resources are accessible and functional.

    • Stay updated on new technologies and tools relevant to online education.
